Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we out: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
In my very first post I wrote about the birthing of my home church in prayer by the Halverson’s. Phil and Fern Halverson left a legacy in prayer and were closely associated with the Word of Faith Movement in the 1970s and 1980s as well as with Christ for the Nations in Dallas, TX. In prayer, they supernaturally paved the way for the hub of the Word of Faith movement in the upper Midwest, when Living Word Christian Center (LWCC) was birthed in 1980 and had rapid growth through the 1980s and 1990s. To this day, LWCC has a membership of 10,000 – 12,000 members and has much influence in the educational and political realm both nationally and internationally with its connections to Israel.
I recently reread through a book by them entitled Unseen Forces beyond this World and a new book about them by Dr. Michael Yeager called The Mysteries & Secrets of Intercession. In this blog, I simply want to stir your faith so you can realize that with the Creator of the universe living in you – you really have no limits in prayer. This was the type of spirit on Brother Phillip Halverson. Here are a few nuggets from their lives in prayer:
The first night Brother Halverson attended a meeting that Kenneth E. Hagin preached in marked a significant change in his spiritual journey. He had never met him and instantly there was a connection to the man of God, Kenneth E. Hagin. Brother Hagin would never say it, but the Holy Spirit had told his writing assistant Billye Brim that he was the greatest prophet in the Land (America). I believe this to be an accurate account of his life and ministry. I can say this because I have listened to every published sermon that is out there along with every book that he has published, which is not something you can do over a weekend or in a month’s time.
So during this first service, Brother Hagin called out Phil Halverson and told him to stand up and pray out of his spirit. Brother Halverson had never done this as he was a very mild-mannered man but he obeyed the man of God! As he prayed in tongues, words of English began to flow out of him. Both the English and the Language of God flowed out of him with great force and power. Many of the words that had already been coming to him in his prayer life. Brother Halverson found himself praying about an impending war against communism in Southeast Asia, this came before the conflict had ever begun. Once he sat down, Brother Hagin picked up the spark of intercession from him and continued in prophecy (the full interpretation of tongues in English) about how our nation would be torn apart by this war, describing events that were to unfold before they had come to the United States. Much of it was about the loss of American soldiers in Vietnam . . . this is 1962! Wow! The relationship between the Halverson’s and Hagin’s lasted for the next 40 years!
This encounter with God was simply a beginning of what would become regular occurrences in the life of Brother Halverson, as he experienced the depths of a life of intercession. These intense forms of prayer became a battleground against the devil where the authority to overcome, life’s challenges both for him as well as America, was realized in Christ. A boldness like the Lion of the Tribe of Judah would come upon him, as he would typically enter prayer in tongues as he was more fluent in his prayer language than the English language.
He said this fluency was a liberating experience, like it says in “1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” Listen to him speak about it in this link:

Brother Halverson would tell you that this type of prayer is available to all saints and allows for a barrier free fellowship with the Lord. What a life this sounds like to me!
Now, for months and years there has been some people with the concern of President Trump’s life. The intercessors have been covering the presidential candidate in prayer. Of course, every president has this concern. This past weekend there was an assassination attempt on President Trump when he was speaking near Pittsburgh, PA. The bullet ripped through the top of his ear just as he turned the angle of his head. If his head would have been at the angle it was at just a split second before it, most likely, would have entered his skull. I can only account the God wants him alive, what else could it be? Check out the line of the bullet below of what the other angle would have hit.
Brother Hagin taught that, “Satan’s authority over matters on the earth can only be overcome as Christians pray on behalf of their country. God is longing today for someone who will make up the hedge and stand in the gap before the land. Prayer can be offered in your known tongue. It can also be offered in other tongues as the Holy Spirit helps you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you, and continue to pray.
Here is where some people miss it. They don’t hear everything you teach, and they grab some little something and run off with it. There are some things you can pray the prayer of faith on—and you pray one prayer and that’s the end of it. You don’t have to pray anymore; you just thank God for the answer. You can do that for salvation, for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, for healing—for anything God promised right now.
But there are other things you cannot pray the prayer of faith on. One of them is this matter of praying for our nation. You must continue in prayer for the leaders of your nation.”
We, as the American Church, need to be fully committed to praying and interceding for the nation. Everyone! And the anointed intercessors must continue on The Wall as they watch and pray over the signs of the times! The shaking has begun, and it is Our time! So get ready!
