In my very last post, I wrote about the thread in American exceptionalism. I noted that the exceptionalism had nothing to do with the American people per say, but everything to do with the blood that ran through Emmanuel’s veins and was shed for us at Calvary! Liberty was threaded through the American colonies and what then became the United States in the 1830s, the time when Alexis de Tocqueville observed and documented the American life. Tocqueville was confounded that in many European countries (France for sure – his home country), the Church was opposed to political liberty, but the American Church was charged to create, admonish, and sustain political liberty.
Today, I write this blog to full-time pastors, to tent-making pastors, other fivefold ministry leaders, and anyone reading this now. If you are this far into reading this blog you may be called to bring this ministry to other people in the future. I pray you love the calling God has placed upon you, but know it is not always easy.
Abraham Lincoln stated that we in America were God’s “almost chosen people.” The bottom line is God chose Israel and gave them their land, in the northeastern colonies a historical study will clearly narrate that settlers chose God to lead them in the forming of new towns, colonies, states, and eventually a nation. But now, are we at war with God in America, is America bound to idolatry?
We, in current day America, have become anti-nationalistic, or you could say a globalist nation or even Marxist leaning nation – have we expelled God from our institutions? These institutions are mind molders in a society, now sometimes called Mountains in the Church world. I call them the seven mountains of society which we, as Christians are to pursue leadership in. These 7 mountains are the family, ministry, education, government, business/economics, media and entertainment, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). With these high places or mountains being controlled, in many aspects, by non-Christian principles that never have or ever will flourish our society, we must take back enemy held territory and it is still within our grasps. However, we are in a state of war for the soul of America!
When we chose God in many of the original settlements in the northeastern United States, I believe God chose us. Lincoln, was very prophetic in his proclamation that we were God’s “almost chosen people.” America is a very special nation and extremely exceptional in its heritage!
We must, as a nation, repent – we must be revived! We have fallen for the crumbs of the enemy when we now have historically great Ivy League universities protesting the nation of Israel. This same spirit that was against the Jewish people rose its ugly head 90 years ago in Germany, the America Church needs to watch itself – we better get educated and become Silent No More! We are a paralyzed church that has lost their first love, we have grown silent as a Church in America!
The Church is caught up in its cult of celebrity as we are influenced by the media just like the world. We are always searching for the next hack to make the quick buck in fundraising or a different hack to individually lose the weight that we are so concerned about. In America, 50% of new gym memberships quit in 6 months, and 67% of gym memberships never get used! We race for physical perfection, power, influence, and status but find no peace! The pulpit in America has grown quiet on sin and repentance; now the preacher has become a puppet, inclusive of all lifestyles, and tolerant of any voice to keep everyone happy! What are we doing? This milk toast type of pulpiteer is now nothing more than a motivational speaker moved to political correctness and full of fear of the mob, the cancel culture.
The founder of a megachurch in Australia explained his experience in the following statement, “If you have to use marketing and the lures of entertainment to attract people, then you will have to keep them there on the same principle because that is what people buy in to . . .Win the people with entertainment, and you will have to keep them there by entertaining them. For a whole lot of reasons, this commitment seems to get harder year after year. We end up creating a whip for our own back” (Hirsch, 2016).
Is there not a prophet left in the land of America who will stand and speak like the prophets of old? Like . . . Jeremiah, like Ezekiel, like John the Baptist who will be repairers of the breach, who will shout God’s ways from the rooftops? Leonard Ravenhill made this shocking statement, “I doubt if 5% of professing Christians in America are born again – and that’s true of England” (Ravenhill, 2024).
I remember watching Leave it to Beaver and The Waltons reruns on television when I was a kid. Most of the time shows like this exhibited family values of the time, now any type of belief you can think of is promoted on local TV stations . . .not to mention what you can see on cable channels. We are a confused culture, we save animals and trees but do not respect human life itself? What are we doing? We are drowning in idolatry in America – who will rise up with a voice against all this noise? Does the Church leadership really want comfort and convenience to the point that they have become tongue tied to announce the truth to God’s people? These are counterfeits to the real mouthpieces of God – but a counterfeit means there is a real mouthpiece.
What about Artificial Intelligence, or AI? It has boundless potential for sure, but the amount of evil that will raise its ugly head from this is already happening and has been for many months. Eventually, the wickedness that comes from it may cause disruptions in our society that we are not prepared for. I will be writing on this in a coming blog.
God has been enshrined in most of our founding documents, and was embedded in our systems, institutions, or figuratively speaking Mountains in this country for centuries. The 1500s, 1600s, 1700s, and 1800s built the beauty that the nation beheld in the 1900s – and in only a few generations, or the past 100 years, the “nation” has decided we know how to build Babel without God now. It did not work out well for the Babylonians and will not go over well with us, if we continue down this trek.
But heaven looks to us to turn the tide, to speak out for God, for what is right! There is a man called Jesus who will soon come back to this blue marble planet, and He will establish His kingdom just as He (and the prophets) foretold.
Know that rain is on the way no matter what anyone says, America is in a heavyweight fight for truth again. Many of you want to see the Church flourish! God wants the Church to be a strange and peculiar institution or Mountain. How do I know rain is coming? Because America is repenting and repentance releases times of outpouring and refreshing! And if Church leadership does not repent and speak out, then I pray God consider replacement of these puppets in the pulpit . . . Cause rain is on the way (1 Kings 18:41)!
Ephesians 4:11 And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
I am looking in Ephesians 4 for the reference to blend in with cancel culture and fear the current American mob, and I have not found it yet! Do not bow your knee to the mob- Pastor, speak what the Word of God says to speak to your congregation. You are judged by man here on earth, but by God in eternity!
