1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort you first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of truth.
God wants us to live a quiet and peaceable life. First, as First Timothy states above we, the Church, must pray for those in authority over us. Many of us, in the Church, are now thinking that elections and the political realm will save us. However, scripture does not state that! It states, the Church must do its job, it shall rise up in prayer and witness to invade our culture as a massive revival would do. We are revived, individually – then in churches and communities, and then spreads into regions and states – AND nations! A revival is a move of God on God’s people.
Revival has already touched our Land in 2023! If you have not seen or heard this, you must put your spiritual antennas up and listen! My Blog from December 10, 2022 was entitled “A National Revival in 2023?” It walked through 2 Chronicles 7:14 and shared the four keys to national revival which are:
- Humbling Ourselves
- Praying
- Seeking God’s face and presence
- Turning from sin
In February, 2023 a sovereign move of God broke out at Asbury University where there was a humility and cry for a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. Thousands of university students from across the nation visited the services over the following weeks (including public institutions such as Ohio State University where I am an alumnus). In fact, the revival spread to other higher educational institutions such as Lee University, Cedarville University, Valor Christian College, Ohio Christian University, and Northern Kentucky University. This will not be the only one of these we will hear about. It was surreal and there was simply a peace and presence in the room, in the chapel. Many received their emotional healing, physical healing, people were delivered from addictions and torment, and relationships were restored. My March 25, 2023 in my blog entitled, “Let the Revolution Begin” was about the Church rising up in a revival fashion but ended with me admonishing the people of God to view the film “Jesus Revolution” which I did 2x! Just weeks ago, the 50th anniversary of the Jesus Movement was celebrated in southern California and over 4,000 folks were baptized in Pirates Cove, SoCal! These are the markers of revival in a nation! Now, when a revival is so massively deep, so strong that it bleeds right into the fabric of society it is no longer a revival, but an Awakening! An awakening is what is sounds like, the Church waking up! When a revival has given away to an awakening it has intercepted society as we know it. An awakening is a time of such intense visitation that both Christian and non-Christian communities are affected. It will alter the worldview of a whole people group or culture. Church services are no longer scheduled, they just do not stop. It removes social stratification from the equation: nothing matters; not race, class, or family economics. An awakening causes cultural transformation, it restores a nation, it revitalizes a civilization, and it rescues a generation.
Again, IT IS NOT the political realm and elections that will save America! It is an awakening unto God. In 2008, Bible Teacher Billye Brim gave the following prophecy, “One thing will save America, and it is not the election. It is an awakening to God! One thing will avail for Israel and the nations, and it is an awakening to God.” America was born out of something history calls the Great Awakening. Watch and pray, America! There is a rumbling in the mulberry bushes. Normal church is on its way out and the stirs of an Awakening can be seen on the horizon. Be ready Church, Be ready America – it’s coming to a city near you!
